Can PEMF Help Your Pet?
What started as a simple experiment with two rescue dogs led to one of our most exciting product developments to date. Here’s the full story, and the science behind it.
One of the biggest inspirations behind our new Petbands came from our own dogs at home. We’re huge dog lovers and, alongside our own two rescue dogs, Buddy and Tiggy, we also regularly foster rescue puppies for the local charity Dogs and Homes. Animals have always been a huge part of our lives, so naturally we became curious about whether the same PEMF technology used in our EarthBands could also benefit dogs.
At first, we simply attached our Earthbands to Buddy and Tiggy’s collars as an experiment.
Buddy is an older dog and, due to his age and breed, has developed some stiffness and arthritic changes over time. Within just a few days of wearing his band, we noticed a remarkable difference in him. He seemed perkier, lighter and more playful – almost like the younger version of Buddy we remembered from years ago. He genuinely seemed happier in himself and had a new spark about him.
With Tiggy, the changes were more gradual but equally noticeable. She has always been a slightly anxious dog and could sometimes struggle with sluggish digestion. After a couple of weeks of wearing an Earthband on her collar, we realised her anxiety had significantly settled, her digestion had improved and, unexpectedly, her coat became softer and shinier than we’d ever seen it before.
The real moment that convinced us came a few months later when Tiggy’s makeshift collar attachment accidentally came loose and fell off without us noticing. Within a short period of time, her anxious behaviours began to return. As soon as we replaced it, she quickly settled again.
That experience was the turning point for us.
We already knew PEMF therapy had been used for years within both human and veterinary wellness to support recovery, mobility and overall wellbeing, but seeing the changes in our own dogs made us realise there was space for a simple, affordable “everyday” option designed specifically for pets. And that’s how Petbands were born.
Our hope is that Petbands can help support dogs in the same gentle, natural way we feel they’ve supported Buddy and Tiggy – whether that’s helping older dogs stay comfortable and mobile, supporting calmer behaviour, or simply helping animals feel their best.
PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. It uses low-frequency electromagnetic pulses to stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and support the nervous system’s ability to regulate itself. These frequencies mirror the Earth’s own natural magnetic rhythm, the Schumann resonance, sitting at approximately 7.83 Hz, which all living organisms evolved alongside.
What makes the BeGrounded EarthBand different from clinical PEMF devices is how it delivers this therapy. Inside each band, two magnets are connected by a copper infinity loop. As the wearer moves, the band generates subtle electromagnetic waves flowing between 4 and 22 Hz continuously. There are no batteries, no charging, and nothing to switch on. It is powered entirely by movement and works passively around the clock.

The results we saw with Buddy and Tiggy aren’t surprising when you look at the research. PEMF at low frequencies has been shown to do the following:
Reduce inflammation and joint pain – A review published in Veterinary Evidence found that dogs treated with PEMF showed improved mobility and reduced pain scores. The mechanism is consistent with human research: PEMF pulses stimulate nitric oxide production, improving circulation at the tissue level and accelerating clearance of inflammatory compounds. This explains Buddy’s renewed mobility within days of wearing his band.
Calm the nervous system – Operating between 4 and 22 Hz, the EarthBand encompasses the frequencies shown to support a shift from sympathetic dominance (fight or flight) to parasympathetic activity (rest and regulate). Support faster recovery – Research published in the American Journal of Veterinary Research found that dogs treated with PEMF post-surgery showed reduced pain and faster tissue healing, driven by increased ATP production, improved collagen synthesis, and better circulation to the wound site.
Improve coat and digestive health – PEMF improves circulation and nutrient delivery to tissues throughout the body. A well-regulated nervous system also directly supports gut function, which aligns with the improvements we saw in Tiggy’s digestion and coat condition.
Support immune balance – PEMF has been shown to modulate immune function by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines, making it a useful complementary tool for pets prone to allergies, autoimmune conditions, or recurrent infections.
Buddy and Tiggy didn’t know what PEMF was. They just responded to it. Within days, a stiffer older dog had a new spark. Within weeks, an anxious dog was noticeably calmer, her digestion had improved, and her coat was the best it had ever been. And when the band came off by accident, the difference was clear enough that we didn’t need any more convincing.

Results accumulate over time, so consistency matters more than duration of any single session.
Yes. The Earthband is designed for continuous wear and the low-frequency PEMF it emits is safe for extended daily use. Many owners leave it on their dog’s collar around the clock, removing it only for bathing.
Absolutely. The Earthband is designed primarily for human use as a wearable on the wrist, and many owners alternate between wearing it themselves and attaching it to their pet’s collar. Some households invest in a second band so both can benefit simultaneously.
There are no known interactions between PEMF at Schumann resonance frequencies and standard veterinary medications. However, as with any new addition to your pet’s wellness routine, it is worth mentioning to your vet, particularly if your pet is managing a complex condition.
Unlike grounding mats, which require your pet to choose to lie on them, the collar attachment means your pet doesn’t need to interact with the device at all. Avoidance is not a factor. If your pet is very collar-sensitive, start with short periods and build up gradually.
