Life today is busy for all of us.

Everything seems to be done at pace which can make things tricky if you want to try and get your grounding groove on.

And whilst it’s true that there are cumulative benefits over time to prolonged grounding, your body IS instantly grounded at the very moment you are connected to the earth in some way.

There really is no time too short for grounding, and it all adds up…….

..........however, the more often and the longer the duration, the better.

Part of the aim and ambition of BeGrounded is to get people grounding each day of the year, and to get us all into the habit of connecting to the earth.

It may just be for a minute or two whilst you are in the garden, or even for just 30 seconds as you put the rubbish bins out for collection, or perhaps leaning on a tree when out on a walk, or a sneaky few minutes whilst watching your kids play sport.

Don’t be worried about the ground and getting dirty feet or hands. Embrace it.

It’s all grounding and its good for you!

When you are connected to the earth, within just a few seconds, your nervous system begins to calm and muscle tension decreases.

After just a few minutes, you might notice that pain decreases and mood is improved.

After a few hours your body’s metabolic process is boosted and your blood circulation runs more smoothly.

If you incorporate this into your daily life, your sleep at night becomes more restorative, your stress hormones normalise, inflammation decreases and the health benefits begin to accumulate.

So don’t be too caught up in having to do 30-40 minutes in one go.

If it works better for you, try shorter bursts whenever you can and soon you’ll find that the minutes add up.

Find ways of working it into your day.

Any amount of grounding is beneficial.

CAN YOU BE GROUNDED IN WATER

It depends on the water!

Pure water like distilled water has no minerals or salts dissolved in it and so is a poor conductor of grounded energy.

However when certain minerals, such as salt, are added to pure water, then the water becomes conductive.

The following types of water WILL ground you:

• Ocean Water: It's full of dissolved salts and minerals and represents a superb conductive medium for grounding.

• Lakes, Ponds & Rivers: They generally contain less minerals and salts than the ocean but they are still great conductors.

• Mineral Hot Springs: The high mineral and salt content will ground you............don't think there are any of these in the UK :(

That’s why we seem to feel so refreshed and re-vitalised whenever we go to the beach or swim in the sea on holiday!

If you are barefoot outside on the grass, soil, gr

If you are barefoot outside on the grass, soil, gravel, stone, sand, brick, concrete, you will be grounded and feel the Earthing benefits this brings.

If you are inside then unpainted or unsealed concrete, or tile floor built directly on the earth, you will be grounded but it’s best to test the floor conductivity to be 100% sure!

However, you will NOT be grounded on:

• Asphalt
• Vinyl
• Wood (e.g. decking)
• Wooden floors
• Painted/sealed concrete
• Tiled floors
• Carpets

I recommend watching this short snippet of Dr. Jerry Tennant, who is a real pioneer in healing.

It's a real eye opener into understanding how we receive electrons and how these are depleted from us and how voltage affects our cells and, in turn, our health.

My next read will be his book called "Healing is Voltage"........we are electric being after all!

Does keeping your phone battery topped up take priority? We’ve all been guilty of it, as we feel that tension when it gets below 10%.

I’m sure most of us charge our mobile phones at least once a day, and probably more. It’s what makes them work.

..but let’s flip that thinking and put ourselves first.

Did you know we get free electrons from the ground when we are connected to it, and they scavenge free radicals.

Free radicals are the by-product of our energy production from our mitochondria.

When were are outside and connected to the ground with our bare feet, think of it as the negative charge of a battery, and the natural sunlight which is the positive part of the battery.

Both of these together balance our electrical charge and are the most powerful anti-inflammatory known.

What’s more………. it’s free and in abundance.

So why don’t we take care of ourselves like this and re-charge ourselves just as often? It seems crazy not to now you know how good it is for your whole body health.

What’s more, you can make this re-charging even more efficient by eating clean food, and hydrating properly. Every cell in our body is conductive so give it the best chance to its thing!

Any grounding is good for you but try and make it a daily occurrence.

Once it becomes a habit, it will become a natural part of your routine and your body will thank you for it, and if you have children, they will copy you. Win-win.

If you can, be connected for at least 40 minutes. Barefoot on some grass is probably the easiest way, however, even if just one tiny section of your skin is connected your whole body is grounded.
