What is Vitamin G

What is vitamin G?

Vitamins and minerals play a vital role in in our day-to-day life and are essential for many bodily functions that help us regulate hormones, give us strong bones, help with wound healing and help us fight infections whenever they arise.

Most vitamins are consumed through our diet, however, vitamin D is produced by our body when it is directly exposed to sunlight.  Vitamin D is actually a hormone (why didn’t they teach us that in school?) and is required to absorb calcium from the gut into our bloodstream.  The liver and kidneys come into play here too.  They convert Vitamin D into the active hormone called calcitriol.

But what’s this got to do with Vitamin G?  The point here is that not all good things for the body need to be consumed in what we eat (although this is crucial too!).  Our body needs the good things from around us to also function at its optimum level – our environment plays just as an important role in our health.

So, to re-cap: whilst our body needs exposure to sunlight in order to produce vitamin D, we also need exposure to the ground (the earth) to receive electrical nutrition in the form of electrons.  We are electric beings after all.  We call this connection “Earthing” or “Grounding”, which is why we call it Vitamin G.

We’ve evolved in connection with the ground.  A human body – our brain, heart beat, our muscles, everything – is primarily electrical.  So when we’re standing barefoot on the earth, we’re absorbing electrons that help neutralise the free radicals that cause inflammation in our body which damages our cells. Whenever we have this connection to the ground we feel better because we are electrically stable.

However, today, we mainly live insulated from the earth.   Our culture has shifted over time so we have moved away from the ground connection.  We mostly wear shoes made of synthetic materials, we work in offices, live in buildings disconnected from earth and travel around in cars.  Our ways of getting access to Vitamin G has become less and less and over time this “disconnect” has meant we have been deficient in electrons through lack of grounding which has contributed to a global health issue.

We all lack Vitamin G!

The knock-on effect of this has meant that our bodies are chronically charged with inflammation, we suffer from the resulting immune dysfunction and the many major diseases linked to chronic inflammation.

The good news is that Vitamin G is free and available to everyone!  Years of extensive research by Clint Ober has shown that grounding and being connected to the Earth’s natural energy can reduce chronic pain, fatigue and other ailments that plague so many people today. This energy harmonises and stabilises the body’s basic biological rhythms, making it the most natural and powerful anti-inflammatory around!

When your skin comes in contact with the earth, free electrons are taken into the body. These electrons help neutralise free radicals that can lead to inflammation and disease in the body.

As defined in the Collins English Dictionary, a free electron is: “any electron that is not attached to an ion, atom, or molecule and is free to move under the influence of an applied electric or magnetic field.”

………but where do these electrons come from?

As already stated: first and foremost we are electrical beings. It is because of the high amount of charged Ions in the fluids of our bodies called electrolytes, for example, Sodium, Potassium, Calcium and Magnesium, that our cells can generate electrical charges.

There is an estimated 16 million thunderstorms around the globe each year, and at any given moment, there are roughly 2,000 thunderstorms in progress! And that’s about 100 lightning bolts striking the Earth’s surface every SECOND  which is about 8.5 million times every day!

THIS is what gives the Earth’s surface its negative charge which literally spreads around the globe, and this in part, is where electrons come from.

………So when we’re in touch with the Earth barefoot, our electrical bodies receive a charge of energy that makes us feel better and balance is restored!  This is Vitamin G!

In today’s world, viruses and other illnesses are a constant challenge, and so making sure we get enough Vitamin G from being grounded and connected to the earth is critical in keeping inflammation at bay, keeping us in balance and in-tune so that we can thrive perform our daily functions at our optimal best!

But let’s delve a little deeper and see what Vitamin G(round) can actually do for us.

  • Your Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) shifts from a typically overactive sympathetic mode (fight or flight) into a parasympathetic mode (rest and digest)
  • It calms the nervous system
  • Improves the quality of sleep
  • Normalises the effect of the stress hormone, cortisol

….and that’s just for starters.

Aside from the above list, one of the key things to focus on here is inflammation as this is one of the main drivers of disease in our body, and Vitamin G will knock this on the head!

As Dr Stephen Sinatra (Cariologist) said: ‘If you’re reducing pain, what you’re doing is reducing inflammation. Because you can’t have pain in your body unless you have chronic inflammation’

He began to help Clint Ober understand the link between pain and inflammation.  We don’t connect the two simply because we’ve often just associated inflammation with a twisted ankle or other kind of momentary injury.  However, if you’ve had chronic, ongoing pain in your life, it appears that what you’re dealing with is inflammation.  The latest research shows that when you’re grounded on a consistent basis it destroys inflammation.

From the many Earthing studies we know that healing begins between the 20-30 minute mark of making that earth connection.  If you have skin connection to the ground your winning the battle against inflammation.

That’s why we encourage everyone to make it a daily habit to be grounded and get their Vitamin G every day.  Make it part of your routine. No excuses.

So how can you get yours? One simple suggestion could be taking your morning coffee or tea outside with your feet on the ground.  Perhaps taking phone calls outside barefoot in your garden if you work from home, or going for a barefoot walk in a park during your lunch break.  Kids love the outside so even better if you can be grounded together, AND a great habit to build with them.

Stay connected to the earth as often as possible and get your Vitamin G – how often do you get yours?
